Sin City and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. alum Powers Boothe has passed away at the age of 68.
An immensely talented actor, Boothe will forever be part of the geekdom-at-large thanks to his roles in several movies and TV series, such as Red Dawn, Sin City, 24, Deadwood, various Justice League animated series (as the voice of Gorilla Grodd), The Avengers and Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. According to Karen Samfilippo, there will be a private service held in Texas (his home state). His family is also considering a memorial celebration at a future date, which would be a great way for fans to celebrate Boothe’s life and career.
Amongst the Emmy-winning actor’s many, many roles was that of saloon owner Cy Tolliver on HBO’s Deadwood and Vice President Noah Daniels on 24. Powers Boothe’s final role was that of Gideon Malick on S.H.I.E.L.D., which was recently renewed for a fifth season.
