The end is nigh for the Sith Lord, well at least in solo comic book form, with the upcoming delivery of Marvel's Darth Vader #25. Written by Kieron Gillen with art by Salvador Larroca and Mike Deodato, I'll fight a furious lightsaber duel with anyone who doesn't believe this hasn't been one of the best new series coming out of the House of Ideas. (I'm not saying I'll win, but I'm game!)
Vader and his slightly psychotic crew of Triple Zero, BT-1 and Doctor Aphra have delighted, shocked and entertained readers with their reckless exploits across the galaxy to hunt down Luke Skywalker, the evasive rebel pilot who destroyed the Death Star. News broke last week that this final issue has been pushed back to an Oct. 5 release date, which may seem sad at the moment, but it gives you all the more time to admire this striking collection of variant covers specially commissioned for the big blowout.
Here's the official solicitation synopsis:
It has all built up to this! Vader’s trials against Cylo’s creations! His machinations against the Emperor! His covert missions with Doctor Aphra and her murderous droids! All comes to fruition in an oversized 40-page issue by the stellar team of Kieron Gillen and Salvador Larroca! You won’t want to miss this ending!
