Six Flags giving away season passes if you're willing to spend 30 hours locked in a coffin

A group of Six Flags parkgoers that are allegedly horror fans have signed up for the theme park’s 30-Hour Coffin Challenge in honor of the thirtieth anniversary of its Halloween-inspired Fright Fest.

These fans — who have apparently never seen Ryan Reynolds in Buried or Uma Thurman in Kill Bill or anything about The Nun — are willing to spend over a day in a 2’ x 7’ coffin provided by the park in order to get two deluxe season passes for the year, a package specific to Fright Fest that includes a pair of VIP Haunted House passes, and, well, the coffin itself. Spooky! Plus, if you’re the last one standing — er, lying — you get $300. Otherwise, it’ll be drawn for randomly between the survivors.

But of course, this can’t end well, right? If you can spend that long horizontal from 1 p.m. on Oct. 12 until 7 p.m. on Oct. 13, bathroom breaks (one six-minute break every hour) notwithstanding, you’re probably a vampire anyways. What do you need a scary theme park for?

Other components of the challenge, which fan be registered for here (as long as you change the URL to specify the correct park), include delivery of a phone charger and meals in-coffin, random visits from “Fright Fest Freaks,” and the ability to bring your own sleeping material as long as you and your extra-comfy sleeping bag still fit in the coffin.

If you’re one of the six people chosen per park, you’ve got to be over 18 and without any medical problems that would make the challenge even more prone to lawsuits than it already is. Oh, and you can have a friend nearby...until the park closes. Then, you’re on your own...aside from the teenage employee whose summer job is watching weirdos lock themselves in coffins.

That said, if this horror doesn’t sound too bad to you (Hey, all my meals delivered? Catching up on sleep in a comfy box?), you can sign up at one of the below participating parks for your chance to lock yourself in a box that we use to bury dead people:
