The latest trailer for Skyscraper shows up Die Hard in almost every way

Yippee ki-yay! A new trailer for Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's Skyscraper has made its way onto the internet, and it basically underscores just how much it wants to outdo Die Hard by making everything bigger, more badass, and more high-tech.

Like Bruce Willis' John McClane, Johnson's character, Will Sawyer, is also a law enforcement official. As an ex-FBI agent, he becomes a security consultant after losing his leg in a disastrous raid 10 years prior to the events of the movie.

Sawyer mentions that he hasn't held a gun since, but all of his old training needs to kick back in when he's hired to appraise the security of The Pearl, a massive, technologically advanced building in Hong Kong that is basically a vertical city. His family gets an entire floor of their own, but this coincides with a bunch of terrorists taking control of the building, so Will's gotta make his way into the structure, save his wife and kids, and then kick some terrorist butt.

Check out the trailer:

At three minutes in length, this is a very long trailer, and if you're a stickler for avoiding spoilers, you might want to avoid watching it, because it does give a lot away.

This is Johnson's second collaboration with director Rawson Marshall Thurber after 2016's Central Intelligence. Thurber is mostly known for his comedic projects, like DodgeBall: A True Underdog Story and We're the Millers, and Skyscraper will be his first all-out action/thriller movie.

The movie will be released in theaters on July 13 and co-stars Neve Campbell (House of Cards), Ng Chin Han (Independence Day: Resurgence), Roland Møller (Atomic Blonde), Pablo Schreiber (American Gods), Byron Mann (The Expanse), Noah Taylor (Edge of Tomorrow), Byron Lawson (Snakes on a Plane), and Hannah Quinlivan.
