The freaky cast of Sleepy Hollow will be getting a little bigger, as the hit supernatural series is adding a mysterious Catholic priest later this season.

David Fonteno (Good Wife) has signed on to recur on Fox’s freshman drama as the new character Reverend Boland. According to TV Line, Boland is “a Catholic Priest living in Manhattan who has seen a lot in his life.”

The character will also help bring Orlando Jones’ Captain Frank Irving deeper into the ghostly fold, as Boland will enter as a longtime friend and advisor to Irving. Jones’ police captain has been a fun foil over the first few episodes, so it’ll be nice to see how he handles going deeper down the rabbit hole. Forento is currently slated to appear in episodes 9 and 10, though with the role tagged as “recurring,” there’s always the chance he could pop up again.

Riding some awesome ratings, Sleepy Hollow has truly been the surprise hit of the fall. It knows what it wants to be, and it’s doing a good job of getting there. With the addition of Forento, and the upcoming debut of beloved Fringe star John Noble, it looks like the mythos will only be getting deeper.

What do you think of the series so far? Have you stayed along for the ride?
