We knew Sleepy Hollow was getting an ambitious retooling for the third season, and now we know a few more characters who will join Abbie and Ichabod as series regulars.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Zach Appelman and Lance Gross have been promoted to series regulars for the show’s third year. We’d previously heard Appelman would be reprising his role as Joe Corbin this year, but we didn’t know how much we’d actually see of him until now. Appelman played the son of late Sheriff August Corbin. His character is a Marine and will team up with Jenny (Lyndie Greenwood) to research the spookiness that Sheriff Corbin was studying before his death.

Gross will play Abbie’s new boss Daniel Reynolds, the FBI special agent in charge in Sleepy Hollow. He apparently has a history with Abbie, though we don’t know exactly how he’ll adjust to the weirdness of Sleepy Hollow. Gross will hopefully bring a fresh angle to the series as it looks to reinvent itself, but we’ll still miss Orlando Jones’ Frank Irving. He was a great character who suffered from bad writing and a general lack of ideas. You will be missed, Irving.

"Lance and Zach are both very talented and welcome additions to our Sleepy cast," new showrunner Clifton Campbell told The Hollywood Reporter. "There are rich stories to be told with these characters and we believe that fans will embrace these new -- and quite mysterious -- developments in the Sleepy Hollow world."

The new season of the new-look Sleepy Hollow is set to premiere Thursday, Oct. 1, on Fox.
