Some Sleepy Hollow spoilers follow

Fans of Sleepy Hollow got a jarring jolt of reality when the character Detective Abbie Mills, played by Nicole Beharie for the past three seasons, was recently and ceremoniously sacrificed to the netherworld.  Now that her time on Fox's suffering Sleepy Hollow is apparently over, Beharie has secured a lead role in the upcoming Jacob’s Ladder remake, co-starring Jesse Williams (Grey's Anatomy) and Michael Ely (Almost Human).

The original 1990 supernatural thriller from director Adrian Lyne starred Tim Robbins as a postal worker pursued by demonic creatures and having nightmarish drifts from reality after returning from Vietnam.  It's a stylish and deeply disturbing horror film that deserves a 21st-century remake.  I once met the screenwriter, Bruce Joel Rubin (Ghost), at a UCLA screenwriting conference, and the movie's themes still resonate today.  Any doubters should watch the deleted scene clip below and tell us if it sufficiently spooks them:

This new remake will be directed by David M. Rosenthal (The Perfect Guy, A Single Shot), with a contemporized screenplay written by Jeff Buhler (Midnight Meat Train) and Sarah Thorp (The Bounty Hunter) centering around the concept of a “modern-day paranoid action thriller about two brothers.”  Filming on this hallucinatory paranormal flick is scheduled to begin in May, with no announcements yet on who Beharie might be playing.

Are you happy to hear Nicole Beharie will be back to watch in a big-screen Hollywood reboot or still annoyed they offed her on Sleepy Hollow?
