BioWare dropped an exciting new gameplay trailer at NVIDIA’s CES 2017 Keynote last night for the upcoming Mass Effect: Andromeda. They also announced when players will finally be able to get their hands on the game.
Mass Effect: Andromeda takes place 600 years after the events of the first three Mass Effect games, in the Andromeda Galaxy. It will center on the Ryder family, on a mission to discover new planets fit for human colonization. Gamers will get to choose to play as one of the two Ryder twins, Scott and Sarah Ryder. Their father is N7 Agent Alec Ryder (voiced by Highlander's Clancy Brown), a Pathfinder like Mass Effect's Commander Shepard.
Picking one of the two characters doesn’t mean the other will vanish from the storyline, as they both have an important role to play in the game. Players will get to explore the galaxy and unravel some mysteries in an open world environment while on board the starship Tempest. Here’s what Aaryn Flynn, general manager of BioWare, said in an official statement:
“Mass Effect: Andromeda is our most ambitious Mass Effect game to date. We’re telling completely new stories, creating new characters, new planets, new species, and introducing new gameplay systems. And for the first time, we’re bringing Mass Effect to the Frostbite game engine, an incredible engine that’s delivering a tremendous graphical jump from the trilogy to Mass Effect: Andromeda. To deliver on this, we’re taking all the time we can to make sure you’re getting the best possible experience.”
Mass Effect: Andromeda will be available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One on March 21 in North America and March 23 in Europe. Check out the new gameplay footage below, and let us know what you think. Are you looking forward to picking up the game?
