The cast and crew of Solo: A Star Wars Story hit the red carpet alongside a giant Millennium Falcon for the world premiere of the film in Hollywood Thursday night.
Lando Calrissian himself, Donald Glover, stopped to talk about what fans could expect to see, including what makes the relationship between Lando and a certain female droid he works with -- L3-37, L3 for short -- so special. Lando seems like the kind of guy who we'd call a "player," aka one who has a way with the ladies, but what makes his relationship with L3 so different?
"When you're somebody who's on the road a lot, who's just kinda moving from town to town, you need something honest and stable," said Glover. "And L3 is honest to him. Almost like the only woman he can't tame. He's trying, and she's super independent and very much is the only person who is completely honest to him all the time."
Later on the red carpet, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who plays L3, gave her own insight into the relationship -- one which she describes as "the thin line between love and hate. They kind of can't exist without each other, but they would never admit it. It's kind of like a brother, sister, sibling rivalry... with unusual other parts to it."
Color us intrigued. Guess we'll have to wait until Solo flies into theaters to find out just what the deal is between L3-37 and Lando.
Solo: A Star Wars Story hits theaters May 25.
