With Universal Pictures’ Ouija making a bunch of money in movie theaters back in 2014 (despite not being very good), it was a foregone conclusion that the inevitable sequel would follow. Enter Ouija: Origin of Evil, which is taking the horror movie franchise in a new direction, and we have the very first trailer for the terrifying new movie.

The Ouija follow-up takes place in 1965 Los Angeles (so it’s more of a prequel than a sequel), where a “widowed mother and her two daughters add a new stunt to bolster their séance scam business and unwittingly invite authentic evil into their home. When the youngest daughter is overtaken by the merciless spirit, this small family confronts unthinkable fears to save her and send her possessor back to the other side.”

The trailer actually looks good (I like the retro vibe and the lighting they use), and it’s got plenty of scares -- including the super creepy moment when the younger daughter gets possessed. If that doesn't make you want to stop playing with a Ouija board, I don't know what will. Have a look:

Directed by Mike Flanagan (Oculus, Hush) from a screenplay he co-wrote with his Oculus collaborator, Jeff Howard, Ouija: Origin of Evil stars Elizabeth Reaser (The Twilight Saga), Annalise Basso (Oculus), Henry Thomas (E.T.), Lulu Wilson (Deliver Us From Evil), Lin Shaye (Insidious) and Doug Jones (Hellboy, Pan’s Labyrinth).

Ouija: Origin of Evil will scare you in theaters in time for Halloween on Oct. 21.
