Even though Spider-Man: Homecoming won’t be swinging into movie theaters until July of next year, Sony didn’t waste any time in securing a release date for the sequel.
No doubt the overwhelmingly positive buzz following the release of the first official trailers (one domestic and one international) last week gave Sony the confidence to lock and load a date for the sequel so early in the game. Not that anyone should be surprised about the news. So, when is the sequel coming?
According to Deadline, Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 (I’m sure that won't be the title, but let’s call it that for now) is slated to open on July 5, 2019, pretty much guaranteeing that more amazing adventures for Tom Holland’s web-slinger are in the pipeline — even before the first movie’s release in theaters.
The site also reports that Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 securing the Independence Day slot has now pushed the Will Smith and Martin Lawrence's Bad Boys 4 forward from its original July 3rd spot to Memorial Day weekend on May 24, 2019.
Directed by Jon Watts (Cop Car) Spider-Man: Homecoming stars Tom Holland, Marisa Tomei, Michael Keaton, Zendaya, Tony Revolori, Bokeem Woodbine, Michael Chernus, Logan Marshall-Green, Donald Glover, Tyne Daly, Kenneth Choi, Laura Harrier, Jon Favreau and Robert Downey Jr. It will open on July 7, 2017.
