Blast it all. Despite our wildest hopes and the convincing argument of one dedicated YouTuber, fans of the Marvel films still haven’t found the Holy Grail of Guardians of the Galaxy easter eggs promised by writer/director James Gunn.
Gunn has long proclaimed the existence of one last undiscovered piece of geekery in his debut Marvel film, teasing fans with its tantalizing secret.
After plenty of speculation (spread by SYFY WIRE, to be fair) that this ultimate egg may have been found circulated the internet and was brought to Gunn’s attention, he went on Twitter to quash the idea that the final remaining reference in the film was to the Fantastic Four’s villainous Galactus. The idea was posed that The Collector showed a brief glimpse of him when explaining the Infinity Stones...but apparently that's not the case.
Take a look:
“No, he’s not there in any way.”
And with that, completionist MCU nerds around the world have their hearts broken and head back into the Blu-ray with a fine-toothed comb. What is it? Will we ever find it? And just how many volumes of the Guardians of the Galaxy films will have been released by then?
