Spawn concept art shows 1997 film could've been more badass

Some new concept art from the 1997 hot mess Spawn has been revealed, showcasing some wild designs that build on the comics art style.

Though it has its fair contingent of fans, the Spawn movie was about as half-baked as could be. These sketches, created by artist Marc Gabbana when the film was in development way back in the mid-1990s, give us a peek at some of the styles considered along the way. 

We get some pretty cool tweaks on the final suit design, as well as a look at some weapons that did (and didn’t) make the cut in the final film. It’s hard to say these cool designs could’ve saved the wildly uneven script, but it’d have been a start.

Check out the sketches below, and lets keep holding out hope that long-rumored reboot of this comic property finally happens. Someday.
