While it was revealed on Friday that talks had resumed for Michael Keaton to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a villainous role for Spider-Man: Homecoming, it now looks like director Jon Watts has confirmed the Batman actor has joined the upcoming superhero movie.

Taking to Twitter over the weekend, Watts added fuel to the fire by posting this very cool GIF of Keaton celebrating a win. As we know, negotiations had resumed for the Golden Globe winner to join the cast of Marvel and Sony’s reboot of Spider-Man with Homecoming. Although the role has not been confirmed, it’s widely believed Keaton would play Adrian Toomes, aka The Vulture.

Before we sart doing some celebrating of our own, let's wait to hear an official confirmation from Marvel and Sony, shall we? Still, I think it looks pretty good that Keaton will be our new bad guy. Crossing my fingers!

In other news, Vincent D’Onofrio is campaigning to be on the new Spidey movie. This follows a rumor that emerged last week over at Screen Geek that Wilson Fisk, aka Kingpin, could possibly pop up in the new movie. According to their source:

Marvel Studios is considering having Vincent D’Onofrio reprise his Wilson Fisk role from Daredevil in Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Fisk was the main antagonist of Marvel and Netflix’s Daredevil Season 1 and also appeared in Season 2. From the look of things, seems that Kingpin won’t be staying behind bars for long.  Could he make a cameo of sorts in Spider-Man: Homecoming? I wouldn’t completely rule it out. After all, the character was a Spidey villain before setting his sights on the Man Without Fear, his first appearance being in Amazing Spider-Man #50 back in 1963.

Rumor or not, D’Onofrio is all for it.

What do you guys think?

Spider-Man: Homecoming stars Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Marisa Tomei as Aunt May, Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man, Tony Revolori as Manuel and Zendaya as Michelle. The movie will open on July 7, 2017.
