That upcoming Transformers spin-off being directed by Laika Studios' Travis Knight has just signed its male lead, and he's lighting up the silver screen right now in Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Jorge Lendeborg Jr. will play opposite female lead Hailee Steinfeld (Pitch Perfect) in Bumblebee, a Transformers universe sci-fi adventure from Paramount focusing on the tune-talking yellow and black Camaro Autobot. The little-known actor currently portrays Midtown High School student Jason Ionello in Jon Watts' Spidey reboot.

Lendeborg was first seen in 2016's The Land and has been attached to several new projects, including Robert Rodriguez's Alita: Battle Angel and next year's YA feature Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda over at Fox 2000.

No details on the name or background of the character he will be playing, but the script by Shut In's Christina Hodson lists Steinfeld's role as a tomboy mechanic.

Are you pleased with Paramount's choice of a fresh face in 2018's Bumblebee, or would you have preferred a more recognizable name?
