Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse, the upcoming animated film from Sony, is chock full of Spider-people. There are at least five Spider-folks that we know of (Miles Morales, Peter Parker, Gwen Stacy, Nick Cage’s Spider-Man Noir, and Spider-Ham the pig), but there’re also a ton of villains for them to fight.
Stars Shameik Moore (Morales) and Jake Johnson (Parker) discuss the upcoming film in the preview below (timed to today's big release of the Spider-Man PS4 game), while highlighting some new footage, including some snippets of the movie’s villains. We're particularly intrigued by the cool tech-ninja, Prowler.
Check it out:
So around the 0:31 mark, we get a pretty good look at the caped-and-bladed burglar, Prowler, charging at Morales’ Spider-Man and -- perhaps -- Cage’s Spider-Man Noir. It’s a little dark, so it’s hard to tell. But it’s also hard to mistake Prowler’s bladed gloves and hooded cowl for any of the webhead’s other baddies, like the giant version of the Green Goblin terrorizing the film.
The bladed gauntlets are a staple for Prowler -- who’s actually Aaron Davis (Miles’ uncle, played in the film by Mahershala Ali (taking on the role played by Donald Glover in Spider-Man: Homecoming). That’s gonna be a complicated issue for Morales as family, grey morals, and his burgeoning superhuman responsibility collide.
It all goes down when Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse prowls into theaters on Dec. 14.
