The new trailer for the second season of Star Trek: Discovery goes very heavy on Ethan Peck's Spock and we're not complaining in the slightest. Right off the bat, we get an "Uncle Ben" moment from the cool, calm, and collected Vulcan, who warns that the fate of the universe is currently in the balance.
"There is a great responsibility at hand," he says. "This could be the defining moment for multiple civilizations, millions of lives. The future may be determined by our actions."
He also mentions that the mysterious something known as "The Red Angel" will bring about the demise of all sentient life in the galaxy, and not just Thanos-style, either — it's after everyone. Ain't Spock just a ray of optimistic sunshine?

Also featured in the trailer is Anson Mount's Christopher Pike doing captain-y stuff, Michelle Yeoh's Philippa Georgiou revealing that she joined Section 31, some Vulcan Death Grip action, and some kind of mysterious goo that doesn't look friendly in the slightest.
The biggest draw this season is obviously Spock, a character made immortal by the late great Leonard Nimoy. Peck had massive shoes (and ears) to fill, but he did his due dilligence, watching the '60s-era TV show and reading Nimoy's biography.
"I like the idea that there are little blips and appearances of Nimoy Spock [on the show], and I think there are going to be [more] as we go on,” Peck said at New York Comic Con in October.
Season 2 of Star Trek: Discovery premieres on CBS All Access January 17, 2019.
