The legend of Marvel Comics, Stan Lee has been hard at work touring conventions and appearing in MCU films in curmudgeonly cameos since the inception of the franchise.

But lately, Lee’s health has been getting in the way. Last month, he had a brief hospital scare after an irregular heartbeat, and now he’s revealed that he’s been grappling with pneumonia.

“Haven’t been in touch with you lately,” Lee said in a video posted on TMZ, addressing recent con cancellations, “Had a little bout of pneumonia I’ve been fighting.” However, the 95-year-old icon behind the Fantastic Four, the X-Men, Spider-Man, and the Hulk is confident he’s “getting better” — and is thinking of the fans.

“I hope you’re all doing well, and I miss you all. I miss your enthusiasm, I miss all your notes, all your photos and emails,” Lee said. “I want you to know that I still love you all.” Never one to leave a speech on a down note, Lee pushed through to looking toward the future, when next he will chat, gossip, and sign autographs with a loving audience. “Maybe I’ll have some of this pneumonia knocked down, and we can have some real fun over the internet. Until then, excelsior.”

Lee's resilience as of late has been impressive, leaving the hospital after a single day recently and downplaying the severity of last month's health scare, so hopefully this illness is equally short-lived. Regardless, it's good to see Lee reaching out while staying in and prioritizing his health.
