“Space: the final frontier. These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise. Its continuing mission: to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no one has gone before.”

Right on time for the iconic sci-fi series’ 50th anniversary shindig, Roddenberry Entertainment — that’s the estate run by the Great Bird of the Galaxy’s (Gene Roddenberry) family — has unearthed three never-before-seen archival pics from Star Trek: The Original Series via the good folks over at Entertainment Weekly.

The report reveals that as part of “The 366 Project,” Roddenberry Entertainment will beam up one awesome piece of Star Trek history to their Facebook page each day when 2016 comes knocking. How cool is that? Very cool. And it’s about to get even cooler. Just as the name of the project suggests, there will be 366 items ('cause 2016 is a leap year) in all taken from a range of rare photos, memos, script pages, documents and more plucked from the Star Trek Vault.

Giving fans a first look at rare archival pieces of Star Trek history won’t be the only way the iconic series will be celebrated in 2016. Not only will director Justin Lin’s Star Trek Beyond warp onto movie theaters on July 22, but there will be a huuuuuge Star Trek convention taking place in Las Vegas in August. The festivities will continue in early 2017 with Capt. Kirk himself, William Shatner, hosting the first ever official Star Trek cruise, and CBS will finally give us a new Star Trek series.

Check out the images below, and let us know what you guys think. Are you excited for “The 366 Project” and all the amazing celebrarions planned for the 50th anniversary of Star Trek in 2016?
