It seems like Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci have their hand in just about everything these days, and now the hit writers are prepping a massive new sci-fi flick.

Dubbed Sagittarius A, the project looks to be a big-budget sci-fi flick. No word on the plot, though the title suggests it could be set on a spaceship or perhaps in deep space. Definition-wise, Sagittarius A is a complex radio source located deep in the center of the Milky Way. What that means as far as the story? Who knows.

This project joins about a half dozen other films Orci and Kurtzman have in the works, including everything from Amazing Spider-Man 2 to a Van Helsing reboot. They’ve also had a hand in the Transformers series and J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek films.

It’s nice to see Kurtzman and Orci branching out into their own projects, and finally trying something outside of the big franchise fare. Here’s hoping it’s good.

What’s your best guess about the plot?
