Zoe Saldana is kinda dominating the sci-fi and comic-book genres. Over the past four years, she's appeared in Avatar, Star Trek and The Losers. Now she's adding another title to that list: Guardians of the Galaxy. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Saldana is in negotiations to play the film's female lead, opposite Chris Pratt and Dave Bautista.

If everything goes smoothly, Saldana will star as "Gamora, the green-skinned humanoid who is the last of a species that was exterminated by a race known as the Badoon. She also happens to be a skilled assassin." Saldana will be the third major addition to the cast, following Pratt's Star-Lord and Bautista's Drax the Destroyer.

The Guardians are almost complete. The team also includes a character called Groot, who's been described as a giant tree-like creature. There's also Rocket Racoon, a genetically modified animal that's highly intelligent and knows its way around weapons.

Guardians of the Galaxy is directed by James Gunn and hits theaters Aug. 1, 2014.

What do you think of Saldana joining the cast?
