Life Day is coming back to Star Wars. The titular holiday from the legendary (and legendarily bad) Star Wars Holiday Special is being celebrated again this year thanks to The Lego Star Wars Holiday Special, which heads to Disney+ this November — exactly 42 years after the original aired on CBS.

Directed by Ken Cunningham and written by David Shayne, this 45-minute throwback will take place in a post-Rise of Skywalker environment that's definitely going to cause headaches for devotees of the canon. That's because it'll take a time-warping, all-LEGO A Christmas Carol style to its storytelling, allowing Rey, Finn, Rose Tico, Chewbacca, and Poe Dameron to hang out with the likes of Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Emperor Palpatine, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Yoda, and Kylo Ren — and with versions of these characters from throughout the saga's timeline.

“It's a celebration of the saga,” executive producer Josh Rimes told USA Today. “A lot of characters will be interacting with different characters and perhaps even different versions of themselves at different ages.” Some of these characters will be voiced by their film actors as they reunite after the events of the saga's finale. But a visit to a Jedi Temple screws with time and space, which means the heroes have to get back to their present in time for a Kashyyyk Life Day feast — and Rey gets to connect with a younger version of her old master, Luke. “It becomes a much different take on a teacher and apprentice with the more seasoned Rey and a younger Luke,” Rimes said.

Think It’s a Wonderful Life meets Planes, Trains and Automobiles meets Christmas Vacation...with all Star Wars characters and a hefty dollop of '70s cult camp. “We wanted to give a wink and a nod to the original,” Rimes said.

Expect plenty of humor from the special as it looks to reclaim the Holiday Special name from those that love to hate the infamous original. “Life Day was an easy sell with Lego and Star Wars because it gives you the license to be a little more playful and comedic,” said Rimes. “It'll bring a little joy to this world in this very, very crazy year we're having.”

The Lego Star Wars Holiday Special hits Disney+ on Nov. 17.
