Newton, who has appeared in films such as Interview with the Vampire, The Chronicles of Riddick, Crash, Mission: Impossible II and 2012, was one of the most popular and acclaimed members of the cast of last year's Westworld, the HBO sci-fi series on which she played the increasingly self-aware and rebellious android Maeve.
She scored Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild award nominations for her performance and will be back when the second season starts shooting later this year ... but first she might end up alongside Alden Ehrenreich (Han Solo), Donald Glover (Lando Calrissian), Woody Harrelson and Emilia Clarke in the Solo spin-off. Like those latter two actors, her possible role in the film is yet to be disclosed.
The untitled Han Solo film, directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (The LEGO Movie), will chronicle the younger years of the smuggler and follow Rogue One -- which just recently crossed the $1 billion mark at the box office -- as the second Star Wars film to take place in the days before Episode IV: A New Hope.
The Han Solo movie is scheduled to open on May 25, 2018.
