Star Wars helmets, lightsaber, and C-3PO hands expecting big credits at new auction

The secondhand Star Wars business has been booming lately, with Han Solo’s blaster and Obi-Wan Kenobi’s lightsaber bringing in big bucks at auction. Prop sales are often lucrative, but nothing has the imaginative or worshipful fan base as Lucasfilm's space opera franchise. So with some other high-profile items from a galaxy far, far away hitting the auction block, prices are once again expected to soar.

In a release provided by Profiles in History, which is putting on the upcoming auction, five items from the Star Wars film canon were listed along with their price estimates.

A T.I.E. Fighter Helmet from the original Star Wars is the first of the headwear being offered, while a Return of the Jedi Imperial Scout Trooper helmet and Stormtrooper helmet from Star Wars: The Force Awakens are also going up for bidding. Prices range from the high of $200,000 - $300,000 for the New Hope original to the low of the $80,000 - $120,000 for the more modern piece of armor — even though the latter comes signed by Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, and Daisy Ridley.

These are joined by a pair of metal C-3PO hands from Return of the Jedi ($40,000 - $60,000) and Luke Skywalker’s original lightsaber from Star Wars. The iconic weapon is estimated to go for $150,000 – $200,000, but Han’s blaster brought in more than half a million... but this is a lightsaber for cryin’ out loud. And Han’s jacket is expected to sell for an estimated cool million at the Prop Store's fall auction! All we’re saying is maybe some lucky fan out there can lowball these auctioneers to get their hands on Luke’s heroic blade.

The auction, which will run before a Marilyn Monroe offering, runs from Dec. 11 - 13 in Los Angeles. Check out the gallery of goodies below, then let us know how much you'll be bidding.
