What’s better than Star Wars toys? Star Wars toys that you have to wait for at midnight in Times Square. Which is what more than 400 people did the moment Sept. 3 rolled into Sept. 4, aka Force Friday (although some fans queued up at 4:30 p.m.). Mostly, we were looking for toys -- but actually, we were looking for spoilers for the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Is there a particular toy that will give away some crucial plot detail?

In a word, no (although the Washington Post found a voice-changing mask revealed phrases from the upcoming film). But we did see toys galore ... including the attention-getting BB-8.

Attendees included fans of ages, some Jedi and Sith to provide flair, and Steve Sansweet (Lucasfilm’s fan relations advisor, curator of Rancho Obi-Wan and titleholder of the Guinness Book of World Records’ largest collection of Star Wars memorabilia).

Although shoppers walked away with multiple bags crammed full of Star Wars goodies, I could only confirm the largest expenditure that I saw: a little over $200. But it wouldn’t surprise me if someone left with a much larger hole in their credit card.

Here’s a look at some of the goodies my dad, ahem, a professional photographer and I saw at this particular store. (Thanks to Dr. Barry Pinchefsky for his camerawork.)
