To get fans pumped for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, a theatrical roadshow is set to ramp up in August to bring the original trilogy back to the big screen.
Before you get too excited, there’s just one caveat: This will be the 1997 versions of the original three films, including George Lucas’ infamous edits (new effects, Han shooting second, etc.), not the original theatrical cuts. A not-so-small price to pay to see these classics on the big screen again, apparently.
The Playlist broke the news of the screenings, which will bounce from New York to California to Texas (and a few other states, with more dates to come) in the months leading up to the release of Rogue One. Fans have been clamoring for these films to get a theatrical rerelease, and though it’s not the cuts many would’ve preferred, you’d have to imagine this should certainly still generate some ticket sales.
