Starz has just announced it had set up licensing agreements with broadcasters and digital platforms in more than 100 countries and territories for its first-ever same-day worldwide premiere with their new horror series Ash vs. Evil Dead, set to hit our TV screens on Halloween night. Groovy!

This is a first for the network, and Starz is, of course, capitalizing on the strong fan and distributor interest in the series based on the iconic Evil Dead horror movies. Among the many providers that will premiere the series on Oct. 31 we find Amedia (Russia/CIS), C More (Scandinavia), Fox Action on Fox+ Premium service/Fox Latin America Channels (Latin America/Brazil), Sky TV (New Zealand), Stan (Australia), Starz Play Arabia (Middle East/North Africa) and Super Channel (Canada).

Michael Thornton, chief revenue officer at Starz, said: “Fans of The Evil Dead have spoken with great passion and interest around the world, sparking high buyer demand for Ash vs. Evil Dead. We are delighted to be able to provide flexibility to many of the key buyers serviced by Starz Worldwide Distribution and Starz Digital and thus allow for a wave of local Ash vs. Evil Dead worldwide premieres on the ‘groovy’ date of October 31.”

Back in the role of Ash Williams, the stock boy, aging lothario and chainsaw-wielding Deadite hunter, is Bruce Campbell. The official synopsis reveals that Ash has “spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead. When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons –personal and literal. Destiny, it turns out, has no plans to release the unlikely hero from its 'Evil' grip.”

Rounding out the cast are fan favorite Lucy Lawless, Ray Santiago, Dana DeLorenzo and Jill Marie Jones. Ash vs. Evil Dead is executive-produced by Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert and Bruce Campbell with Craig DiGregorio serving as executive producer and showrunner for the 10-episode first season.

Are you guys excited for the return of Bruce Campbell as Ash? Looking forward to some good old-fashioned bloody Deadite action on All Hallows' Eve?
