As the temperature drops and Old Man Winter descends over North America, it's time to break out the geeky cold weather gear.  But this year you'll be the envy of all when you're sporting one of these awesome new The Empire Strikes Back replica cast and crew jackets from Columbia Sportswear.  If you're lucky enough to snag one!

These bright-blue furred jackets have been the envy of all card-carrying Star Wars fans for decades, ever since set shots depicted chilly actors and crewmembers bundled up in them while filming the Battle of Hoth scenes in freezing Norway in 1979. Now Columbia is releasing a limited number of the iconic coats on December 7 on their site for a pricey $500 each and my prediction is that they won't last long.

Limited to one per person and available Friday in unisex sizes, Columbia's vintage design is infused with modern technology to keep you toasty should you find yourself in sub-zero Siberia or any ice planet in your local system. The waterproof-breathable shell is manufactured with Omni-Heat™ thermal-reflective lining and 200g insulation to warm your rebel bones and keep hypothermia at bay. The coat comes complete with authentic details like its striking Nordic blue blue design accented with orange security stripes, cool Star Wars patches, geographical filming coordinates posted in the lining, and a customizable name plate on the chest pocket to display your call sign!

Columbia has previous experience in clothing inspired from the galaxy far, far away when they produced a limited-edition Echo Base Collection in 2017, where they offered 1,980 of the jacket/vests designed to replicate those worn by Luke, Han, and Leia for $400 each.

Can you justify pulling the trigger on one of these new cast and crew beauties when ordering opens up on at 12:01 am (EST) on Dec. 7?  You might not be able to resist!
