Stephen King as surprised as anyone about the IT remake being so good

The early reviews for Stephen King’s IT have been positively stellar, and it turns out even King himself was surprised at how great the finished product turned out to be. When you can freak out the OG horror man? Yeah, that’s impressive.

A new featurette for the horror adaptation has been released, showing off some new footage and interviews with the cast and crew. The most interesting bit comes from King, who seems genuinely surprised at just how great a job director Andy Muschietti did with the material. Considering how uneven King adaptations have been over the years, it’s great to see he’s so impressed — and his confidence that fans will also love it.

Along with King, the featurette includes interviews with young stars Jaeden Lieberher, Jack Dylan Glazer, Finn Wolfhard, Wyatt Olef, Jeremy Ray Taylor, Chosen Jacobs and Sophia Lillis. Bill Skarsgård doesn’t chime in to break character, but he’s busy enough making our spines tingle with his terrifying turn as Pennywise. The buzz is through the roof for this one, and the more we see, the more excited we are for the finished product. Too bad President Trump won’t have the pleasure of checking it out.

IT opens on September 8.
