Stephen King's uncollected short story 'The Revelations of Becka Paulson' heads to The CW

Any and all Stephen King stories are headed to the screen, even uncollected short stories like "The Revelations of 'Becka Paulson." The story, which was previously adapted into an episode of The Outer Limits (starring Catherine O’Hara as Paulson), is getting the series treatment over at The CW.

According to Variety, the show would be called Revelations and be an hour-long drama loosely adapting the story about a woman that accidentally shoots herself in the head — which causes some dire changes in her worldview. The story's Paulson is a killer, driven by a hallucination that appears after her self-inflicted brain injury. Here, it seems like the horror might be downplayed a bit from the source, but it's also reinstating Jesus as her hallucination (after The Outer Limits replaced him with a random dude).

This time, Paulson is chosen to stop an apocalypse by proving that Earth is redeemable "starting with her quirky midwestern hometown." There's no indication that this also starts by killing the unworthy — like her husband, for example.

The changes look to expand the brief tale (which was also present, in a different form, in the King book The Tommyknockers) into something capable of sustaining multiple episodes. The show comes from writer Maise Culver (Last Man Standing) and executive producer Katie Lovejoy (Dracula).

No timeline has yet been set for Revelations.
