This article includes a spoiler for the post-credits teaser in Deadpool.
With the R-rated Deadpool blasting box-office records left and right on the big screen this weekend, news that Fox is already working on a sequel, and the Cable tease in the movie’s after-credit scene, one actor has decided to start campaigning for the part of the time-traveling mutant in Deadpool 2.
Fan-favorite actor Stephen Lang (Avatar, Terra Nova, Salem) has taken to Twitter over the weekend in order to share a few tweets with his fans, revealing that he's more than ready and willing to play the Marvel character in the Deadpool sequel. Dude is proving it by showing that even at 63, he's totally in shape to play Nathan Summers, aka Cable. Dang.
In the comic books, Nathan Summers/Cable is the son of the X-Men’s Cyclops/Scott Summers and Madelyne Pryor, a clone of Jean Grey, born in the modern timeline but sent to live in the future. The Marvel character possesses telepathic and telekinetic powers but has to constantly control a techno-organic infection on his left arm. What’s also interesting about Cable is that he was a member of the X-Men and X-Force, and X-Force just so happens to be a movie Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds has made one of his priorities.
I don’t know if Lang’s campaigning will get the attention of the Deadpool powers-that-be, but he may have to face stiff competition in the form of Jon Hamm (Mad Men), who's actually Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld’s dream choice to play Cable.
Would you like to see Stephen Lang as Cable in Deadpool 2?
