Steven Moffat may have just dropped some very intriguing tidbits regarding Matt Smith’s final Doctor Who episode.

As we all know, the upcoming Christmas special will be Smith’s swan song in the role of the Eleventh Doctor as he will regenerate into Doctor number Twelve, played by Peter Capaldi.

Those hints appear in the latest issue of Doctor Who Magazine (out in the U.K).

When Moffat was asked about the TARDIS exploding back in season five, the Doctor Who showrunner had this to day:

“Oh, never mind the TARDIS blowing up, what about the endless, bitter war Kovarian was on about? And what’s Trenzalore? And the oldest question in the universe? And what exactly do they mean, silence will fall? Anyway, I’m off to a readthrough…”

The readthrough being that of the Xmas special, of course, which is filming right now.

What do you think? Are you looking forward to having those loose ends finally explained? Still, WHY DID THE TARDIS EXPLODE? So many questions, so little time.

Let’s cross our fingers that we’ll finally get those answers before Eleven's regeneration ... or, knowing Steven Moffat, maybe not.
