The Wachowski siblings, Andy and Lana, are back in a big way with the impending arrival of their epic new film Cloud Atlas. But the pair have another project up their sleeves—and it finds them working with Babylon 5 creator J. Michael Straczynski.
Variety reports that the Wachowskis and Straczynski are teaming up to create a new TV series called Sense8. The concept for the show is secret, but what we do know is that it's being pitched to several outlets as an hourlong series, that Straczynski will serve as showrunner, and that the Wachowskis are likely to direct several episodes themselves.
With the Wachowskis and Straczynski involved, you have to think that the project has some sort of sci-fi angle to it, right? In the meantime, Straczynski himself also has a thriller series in the works for ABC, while the siblings are doing press ahead of the Oct. 26 release of Cloud Atlas and also prepping their next mind-bender, Jupiter Ascending, for production.
The Wachowskis are among the few filmmakers to whom the term "visionary" applies, and JMS has been no slouch either when it comes to ambitious projects. Does this sound like a good match to you?
