Noah Schnapp finally gets some stuff to do as Will Byers in Season 3 of Stranger Things (and in a separate comic, but that’s another story), but he’s also got some info for fans begging to know what’s been going on with the other characters who haven’t had much to do in the town of Hawkins.
Like the Byers family’s dog, for instance.
The Byers family had a dog named Chester during Season 1, but that pooch was noticeably missing from Season 2 — which, because it’s one of those shows, meant that fans were wondering what significance his absence held. Star David Harbour explained to Howard Stern that the dog was... unprofessional... to say the least, so this may have contributed to his disappearance. But during a recent onstage Q&A, Noah’s got the in-narrative answers.
Just take a look:
“Um, I mean, I don’t know if this is — I mean, I think he died, didn’t he?” Schnapp responded to a young fan’s question before looking offstage to make sure his wranglers weren’t about to take him down. “He did. I mean, I’m sure, you could tell, I guess. In this season there’s like a grave for him, that you see.”
Ouch. Sorry, Chester.
But Schnapp didn’t stop there. He also explained that the show’s friends were all hanging at the mall and a pool this season now that school’s out:
So a few more settings around town to anticipate as Season 3 of Stranger Things films — but nothing too out of the ordinary... except the dead dog. That’s not fun.
