It’s probably no surprise, but due to my line of work I tend to go through a lot of different notebooks. Whether it’s jotting down interview questions, creating to-do lists, or taking notes while running around a convention, I’m always in need of a way to keep track of things. It helps if the notebooks are easy to carry around as well as fun and geeky, so I can show off some of my nerdiness and have something that will make me smile if I’m stressed while working anywhere. My favorite product that covers all these bases is the Darth Vader and Friends mini eco-journals released by Chronicle Books.
Whether or not you’re a Star Wars fan, you’ve probably heard of Darth Vader and Friends. It’s one book in a series of humorous Darth Vader books by Jeffrey Brown. Brown has written and illustrated other Vader books, like Darth Vader and Son and Vader’s Little Princess, for a series full of adorable art that often features Vader interacting with other characters from the franchise who are turned into children for the stories. For example, the Son and Little Princess books give us an interesting look at just what Vader might have been like as a parent raising Luke and Leia! Luckily, these journals keep Brown’s humor and art style front and center. They all have unique illustrations with characters like Vader, the Emperor, Han Solo, Leia Organa, and more appearing on the front and back of each.
There are four of these small notebooks that come in the set offered by Chronicle Books. Each is a different color, and there are different characters on each one. Inside two of the journals are pages with lines, and two of them just have blank pages so you can decide the best use for each. The choice of lines or no lines comes in handy depending on what you’re working on! The journals are also on the small side when it comes to size, so they can easily be carried around if you’re on the move.
