Stuff We Love: Starting the new year with the 2018 Doctor Who calendar

A new year is upon us and with it, a brand-new Doctor! During the Doctor Who Christmas special, Peter Capaldi’s 12th Doctor regenerated into Jodie Whittaker’s 13th Doctor. As I wait eagerly for the next season to start, I’ll at least be able to enjoy revisiting the Doctors of the past with my new calendar for 2018 inspired by the series!

I’ve been very excited to start using my Doctor Who 16-month wall calendar since I received it. Each month features a different Doctor, starting with William Hartnell in January and ending with Peter Capaldi in December. The colorful image of each Doctor is large and in the middle of a central diamond. Surrounding the diamond are then four images of creatures and characters connected to each different Doctor. For example, a Weeping Angel features on Matt Smith’s month while a Zygon is on Tom Baker’s page and Missy appears with Peter Capaldi while the Master shows up with John Pertwee.

Every year I look forward to hanging a new geeky calendar on my wall, but it’s been a while since I’ve had a Doctor Who one and I have to say, this one really stands out from them all. The images are a lot bigger and brighter than calendars I’ve had in the past and even the image on the last page, which shows the first four months of 2019, is a beautiful picture of the TARDIS instead of just an extra image thrown in there without a second thought as happens with some calendars.

This Doctor Who calendar is really a great way to celebrate the science fiction series while getting ready for a new adventure with the 13th Doctor!
