It looks like Netflix is continuing their heroic investments with a new show from actor Josh Gad (Beauty and the Beast, Frozen). And luckily, he's brought along friends Daisy Ridley (Star Wars) and Luke Evans (Professor Marston and the Wonder Women) to join the fun.
Gad's most recent film Murder on the Orient Express (in which Ridley also stars) just raced into theaters, but he isn't slowing down. Netflix has picked up Gad's character-based superhero comedy called Super-Normal. Moana writers Aaron and Jordan Kandell are attached to write. Dan Lin (Lego movies, Death Note) and Jonathan Eirich of Lin Pictures are producing alongside Gad.
Gad is super involved in the project, as it was his idea from the start. All we really know about the upcoming show is that it's a "subversive take on the genre that Hollywood and the rest of the world loves too much," according to The Hollywood Reporter. With the current level of superhero saturation on TV and in theaters, it will be interesting to see how this team decides to tackle the genre.
Recent sitcoms like NBC's canceled Powerless have tried to take a more comedic and light-hearted approach to the genre. But with the Kandells on board, maybe we'll get some superhero singing as well? After their hilarious performances in Beauty and the Beast as LeFou and Gaston, more of Gad and Evans singing together wouldn't be terrible, right?
