Last week, the network revealed our first look at the Daxamite’s Legion of Super-Heroes black leather outfit, which, although stylish, looked nothing like what his comic book counterpart has been wearing in the pages of the DC Comics. For those who were disappointed by the costume he wore in the Supergirl midseason premiere episode “Legion of Super-Heroes,” the fact that Mon-El will be ditching the Legion outfit should make fans of the character happy.
The short sizzle reel doesn’t reveal any new scenes but rather features stars from Arrow, Supergirl, The Flash, Riverdale, Legends of Tomorrow, Black Lightning, The 100, iZombie, and other non-genre CW series. Mon-El and his new superhero garb make their debut early on in the promo (three seconds in, to be exact). Check it out:
As you can see, Mon-El now wears the red and blue outfit he sports in the comics (see below), complete with epaulettes and a cape. The House of El-shaped sigil is still clearly imprinted in the center of his chest, much like the one on his Legion costume. Here’s comic book Mon-El with two versions of his superhero costume:
Even though we only get a very brief shot of Wood in his character's new outfit, the hype is real. Now, why he will discard his Legion outfit for the one he wears as Valor in the comics remains to be seen. Hopefully we’ll get to find out before the show goes on another weeks-long hiatus to make way for Legends of Tomorrow starting Feb. 12.
Supergirl airs Monday nights at 8 p.m. on The CW.
