We’re less than a month away from the super anticipated return of The CW’s Supergirl, and the network has finally released the first midseason trailer for the high-flying superhero series, revealing that a certain character will meet his maker.

Following an extended hiatus so that Legends of Tomorrow could take over its regular Monday timeslot, Supergirl will finally return on April 16 following the time-traveling superhero series’ Season 3 finale, slated to air the previous week. When Supergirl's midseason premiere debuts in less than a month, Big Bang Theory's Laurie Metcalf will appear in a guest-starring stint as Winn’s (Laurie Metcalf) mother in the episode titled “Schott Through the Heart.”

The Supergirl trailer opens on Winslow Schott Sr., aka Toyman’s (Henry Czerny), funeral after this one was found dead in prison. The small gathering, which includes Winn, Kara (Melissa Benoist), and the rest of the DEO gang, is taken by surprise when the coffin suddenly explodes during the lowering of the coffin. Bombs are also found in flying monkey toys, and you’d think that even though he’s dead, Toyman still has some sort of nefarious plan going on, until it is revealed the one behind the explosive situation seems to be... Winn’s mother.

With a family like that, it’s actually surprising Winn turned out to be such a well-adjusted, all-around good guy.

The promo also sees the Girl of Steel trapped in some type of plastic Barbie-doll-style packaging which seems to be the handiwork of the show’s other guest star, Brooke Smith. The actress plays a character named Jacqueline Nimball, who looks to be the one creating all those bomb contractions for Mama Schott.

Supergirl returns Monday April 16 on The CW.
