After temporarily defeating Reign (Odette Annable) with the help of the Legion of Super-Heroes, last week’s episode of Supergirl ended with the reveal that our Season 3 big bad wasn’t the only Worldkiller on Earth. Meaning Kara (Melissa Benoist) will have another Kryptonian bio-engineered weapon of mass destruction to worry about.
Ahead of tonight’s episode, The CW (via Entertainment Weekly) has unleashed our first look at the second Worldkiller Kara is going to face off against in just a few short weeks.
Krys Marshall (This is Us) makes her debut as Julia Freeman, aka Purity, in tonight’s installment titled “Fort Rozz,” which will see Supergirl, Saturn Girl, and villains Livewire and Psi team up for a mission. But don’t expect the (no-doubt brutal) showdown between Supergirl and Purity to take place until the Feb. 5 episode -- right before the show goes on a nine-week hiatus to make way for Legends of Tomorrow, starting on Feb. 12.
“Purity is not what anyone expects and their showdown is full of surprises," Supergirl showrunners Jessica Queller and Robert Rovner told EW. And one of those surprises may provide Supergirl with a clue as to how to defeat Reign.
However, before that happens, it looks like the Girl of Steel will face another mighty adversary when she goes against Purity, who is not wearing any sort of supersuit to conceal her identity in the image above, like Reign does to hide the fact that she’s Samantha Arias. If Purity is as strong as Reign, our Girl of Steel could be in for a world of pain. Again.
Supergirl airs Mondays at 8 p.m. on The CW.
