Are you still weary of the drama surrounding Marvel's Ant-Man adaptation? If so, DC has found the perfect distraction. The CW's Arrow just announced a major casting for its third season that includes a very familiar face. The headlining star of Superman Returns will appear on the series as Ray Palmer, better known as the Atom.

Like Ant-Man, the Atom can alter his body's size. He's also a scientist and inventor. The character will be mixing it up with Oliver Queen as the new owner of Queen Consolidated. He's also expected to serve as a possible love interest for Felicity.

We're not sure how good or bad Palmer's intentions will be. His "plans for Queen Consolidated’s Applied Sciences Division will be shrouded in mystery." Whatever the case, he'll play a huge part in the season. This isn't a one-stop guest spot. Routh is expected to recur in about 14 episodes.

The Atom is just one of many characters infiltrating Starling City. You can also expect appearances by Katana (Devon Aoki), Katana’s husband Maseo Yamashiro (Karl Yune) and Count Vertigo, this time played by Peter Stormare.

Arrow returns to The CW on Oct. 8.

What do you think of Routh becoming the Atom?
