It was only a matter of time before the Arrow become the deranged object of someone's affection. Next season, the masked hero will encounter an unwelcome admirer named Carrie Cutter, better known to comic-book fans as Cupid. The character will be played by CW vet, and Supernatural alum, Amy Gumenick.
Arrow's executive producer Andrew Kreisberg has been waiting for the perfect time to bring Cutter into the fold. The character previously appeared in his run of the Green Arrow/Black Canary comics.
“I always loved the idea of Green Arrow having a crazed fan,” Kreisberg said. “When I was writing the comic book, my big goal was to create a villain who would last. Cupid has since appeared in the DC Nation shorts on Cartoon Network, and to have her fight our TV Arrow is so much more than I ever could have hoped for the character.”
Gumenick is no stranger to genre television. Not only did she play Young Mary Winchester on Supernatural, but she also appeared on Grimm and No Ordinary Family. Her character is the latest in a long line of villains waiting to make Oliver/The Arrow's life more difficult.
Gumenick joins the likes of Brandon Routh as Atom/Ray Palmer, J.R. Ramirez as Wildcat/Ted Grant and David Cubitt as Mark Shaw/Manhunter. Cutter/Cupid will make her big debut in the third season's sixth episode.
Arrow returns Oct. 8 on The CW.
