Cosplay is coming back to the Syfy Channel with a new competition show, Cosplay Melee.

This new series promises to be less Heroes of Cosplay (a one-season show that suffered from manufactured drama) and more Project Runway and Face Off. Here four cosplayers compete in a series of challenges, including creating their own character. The winner will take home $10,000 and cosplay glory -- each episode.

Yvette Nicole Brown, best known to us as Shirley on Community, will act as host. Christian Beckman, who created the costumes for Tron: Legacy, and cosplayer LeeAnn Vamp will be the judges.

From the trailer below, it seems that working with slippery or fraying fabric is the least of the the cosplayers' challenges. They're gearing up with hardware. Considering prop making and costume construction are two completely different skills, it will be exciting to see cosplayers who can work with both.

Cosplay Melee will premiere on Tuesday, March 21, at 10/9c. For more on the series, head over to Syfy's official site.
