Arthur C. Clarke's masterful sci-fi invasion novel gets a respectful adaptation in Syfy's Childhood's End mini-series airing in December. Syfy (Disclosure: Parent company of Blastr) hopes to remain true to the spirit and style of the revered book with this ambitious undertaking by focusing on the novel's unnerving emotional element. Clarke's somber 1953 classic chronicles the benign occupation of Earth by seemingly benevolent alien beings callled the Overlords and the devastating toll it takes on humanity as it unravels the mysterious extraterrestrials' true intentions.
