It’s official: SYFY has just inducted the cast of Deadly Class, an all-original 1980s throwback adventure based on the Image Comics series of the same name.
Benjamin Wadsworth (Dad vs. Lad) will center an ensemble of talent in the coming-of-age TV series, set within the late-‘80s teenage counterculture that pervades the School for Deadly Arts — a high school for young assassins. Wadsworth plays Marcus, a teen recruited to train as an up-and-comer, who finds himself immediately facing the kind of moral dilemmas that only a school for assassins can yield.
Keeping him guessing is Master Lin, the school’s headmaster, played by Benedict Wong (Dr. Strange). SYFY describes Master Lin as “an ever-changing chameleon who keeps his students desperate for his approval.”
If you’re acquainted with Rick Remender's comic series, you know it’s loaded with possibilities for serial intrigue and high stakes, and that it’s set in one of the great eras for any coming-of-age story.
The tense clique of killers-in-training includes a mysterious student with Yakuza ties (X-Men: Apocalypse’s Lana Condor), a fierce but wounded femme fatale (Maria Gabriela de Faria), a cold gangster with a hidden soft side (Luke Tennie), a tough cartel scion (Michel Duval), and a skate punk whose dad just happens to be a cop (Liam James).
Supporting the main cast will be a slew of names you might know: Taylor Hickson, Siobhan Williams, Jack Gillett, Sean Depner, Ryan Robbins — and none other than Henry Rollins in a recurring role.
SYFY has ordered a pilot episode, so it’ll be interesting to see how it all shakes out. Intrigued?
