The Expanse has added a Defiance alum for Season 3. Joining new cast members Elizabeth Mitchell (Lost, Revolution) and David Strathairn (Alphas, Godzilla) for a recurring role on the SYFY series is Anna Hopkins.
TV Line reports that Hopkins — who has recently joined the cast of Freeform’s Shadowhunters: The Mortal Instruments as the villainous Lilith for Season 3 (which is slated for an April 3, 2018, premiere) — will play the role of Monica, who is described as a “charming and savvy journalist who has a way of convincing her subjects to let their guard down.”
Hopkins will arrive around the middle of Season 3 when her character is “assigned to document Holden’s (Steven Strait) administration of the Rocinante.” Yeah, that should be interesting.
SYFY's The Expanse is based on the bestselling book series by James S.A. Corey, and in the books, the character of Monica Stuart is a journalist at UN Public Broadcasting who comes on board the Rocinante to make a documentary in the third novel of the series, Abbadon’s Gate.
Hopkins should feel at home on The Expanse, since she's no stranger to genre series, having previously made appearances on Lost Girl, The CW’s The Flash, and Arrow as Samantha Clayton, and SYFY’s recently canceled Dark Matter.
What do you think of Anna Hopkins going on a space voyage with the crew of the Rocinante for the third season of The Expanse?
