If you’ve been jonesing all winter to find out when you’ll finally be able to get your eyes on Season 3 of The Expanse, today’s your day. Not only has SYFY just revealed a Season 3 release date; it's also unloading a brand new preview trailer, giving us a glimpse into the ongoing struggle for control in the series' massively scaled (we almost said expansive) universe.
The Expanse will return this spring with thirteen all-new episodes that pick up right where the suspenseful Season 2 finale left off. Set for an April 11 premiere at 9 ET, Season 3 will see Earth, Mars and The Belt all warring for supremacy.
Check out the new Season 3 trailer below:
Set 200 years in the future, The Expanse unfolds in a colonized and inhabited galaxy based on the Ty Franck and Daniel Abraham (under the pen name James S. A. Corey) book series of the same name.
In The Expanse’s epically-scaled world of political conflict, Earth is under the control of the United Nations, Mars is an independent military power, and planets in the Asteroid Belt (or just “The Belt”) remain entrenched in a never-ending cycle of scarcity where water and air are precious and costly.
It’s a volatile but enticing recipe — and Season 3 looks poised to escalate the warring tensions to new heights.
In addition to the current cast of Steven Strait, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Dominique Tipper, Cas Anvar, Wes Chatham and Frankie Adams, Season 3 of The Expanse also will bring along newcomers Elizabeth Mitchell and David Strathairn.
