Hold on, Doctor Who and Community fans, because things are about to get very meta and even more timey-wimey.

The cult-fave sitcom Community created its own spoof of Doctor Who in Inspector Spacetime, which has been a recurring in-joke over the past few seasons. A web series based on the take was launched, then was challenged by the studio for copyright issues, so the creators hilariously renamed it Untitled Web Series About a Space Traveler Who Can Also Travel Through Time. Witty, right?

Not surprisingly, that bit of irreverence helped make the web series a fan favorite, and they’re ramping up for a followup — but aiming a lot bigger than a web series. Yep, we're talking feature film. For the sequel, they’ve locked in a boatload of huge guest stars who will be part of the project, including former Seventh Doctor himself Sylvester McCoy. Yeah, it doesn’t get much more meta than having Doctor Who on Inspector Spacetime.

Along with McCoy, they also have a few other sci-fi icons on tap. Former Star Trek and Stargate alum Robert Picardo, Big Bang Theory’s Mayim Bialik, and Chase Masterson (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine) are all expected to have a role in the film.

You know, assuming they’re able to fund it. To make that last bit happen, the producers have established an Indiegogo crowd-funding cause to raise $25,000 to help bankroll production on The Inspector Chronicles: Untitled Motion Picture About a Space Traveler Who Can Also Travel Through Time. Make it so, Internet.

Do you think this can possibly turn out as awesome as it sounds?
