Entertainment Weekly has debuted the first trailer for the upcoming animated Cartoon Network series Transformers: Cyberverse, which involves looking into Bumblebee's mind and combing through his memories of Cybertron for the key to his presence on Earth. But he's gotta be quick about it, because the Decepticons are getting close.
The look of the show is inspired by the original 1980s-era designs of the franchise, particularly the TV show that ran between 1984 and 1987 as well as the movie from August of 1986.
Watch the trailer below:
“When we were designing the look and feel of Transformers: Cyberverse, we were inspired by the classic clean appearance of the original G1-style,” Tom Warner, senior VP for the Transformers franchise at Hasbro, which is producing the series, told EW. “This was the design we initially fell in love with in the ‘80s, and it felt like the perfect fit for this new origin story.”
Jeremy Levy (Bumblebee), Jake Tillman (Optimus Prime), Ryan Andes (Grimlock), and Sophia Isabella (Windblade) make up the principal voice cast.
Transformers: Cyberverse premieres on Cartoon Network Saturday, Sept. 1. A sneak preview of the first episode can be viewed on the network's app this coming Monday (August 27), with new episodes becoming available on it every Friday.
The series should be a nice appetizer for OG Transformers fans, who are looking forward to Bumblebee's own prequel film that arrives in theaters Dec. 21.
