Are you ready to take the plunge? Warner Bros. released a brand-new trailer for James Wan's Aquaman Friday, but this isn't just another 90-second peek.
No, this is billed as an "extended video," and it's a full five minutes of Arthur Curry's (Jason Momoa) journey from the son of an Atlantean queen and a humble lighthouse keeper to the hero who can unite the worlds of the surface and the sea.

While it certainly still functions as a trailer, this footage also shows off a couple of nearly complete scenes, and gives us an even better idea of the film's plot. We already knew that Arthur would struggle against his half-brother Orm (Patrick Wilson), who wants to use his Atlantean might to overwhelm the surface world, but now we know there will also be a quest of sorts for a trident that contains the "power of Atlantis."
This includes a journey to a hidden Atlantean outpost, a number of undersea battles, and the general "Game of Thrones underwater" vibe we got from the previous trailer. Then there's Black Manta (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II), who gets his due in the form of an extended fight scene in a coastal city. Plus, Nicole Kidman wields a trident, we see even more of Atlantean culture, and it all wraps up with Aquaman in his classic gold and green costume. As the hero himself puts it in the trailer: "This is badass!"
The film's cast could be described as anything but a wet blanket — emphasis on wet. Get it? Because the movie is set in the ocean? You've got Momoa, Nicole Kidman, Patrick Wilson, Amber Heard, Willem Dafoe, Dolph Lundgren, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II.
Aquaman surfs into theaters on December 21.
